Denkov: It is easy to make a government, it is difficult for this government to do something useful - 1

Let's say it clearly – corruption is a tumor that eats away at every sphere of our public life, without exception. This is what the chairman of the PG of "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" told journalists in the parliament. Nikolay Denkov on the occasion of the coalition's proposal that President Rumen Radev give them a three-month reprieve for the second mandate to form a government in order to adopt anti-corruption changes, Novini.bg reported.

Corruption is what makes justice impossible, corruption is what makes the work of honest people meaningless and devalues and erodes trust in institutions. Corruption is what chases young people because they don't feel that they can see their future in Bulgaria, it steals their dreams and they go abroad. Without dealing with corruption, we cannot fix health care, infrastructure, urban environment, agriculture – everything we say is important to us. That's why we have to deal with it, he added.

Asked if he sees a chance of support from the other political forces in the National Assembly for the proposal of "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria", Denkov stated: "In words everyone says that they would like to deal with corruption, in deeds this means to pass the laws, to pass rules by which the people who put them into practice are chosen, and that these rules lead to independent people who will be able to do their jobs. We see that so far this has not happened, so we insist that it should happen.

In response to a question whether it is not more logical "We continue the change – Democratic" For Bulgaria to first receive the second mandate to form a government, and then to present a legislative program, Denkov pointed out: "During the last mandate and the one after that, we have always insisted that this happen. We see that systematically, persistently some other political players, for example the people around Peevski push these topics aside or try to replace them instead of doing our job. We've bracketed this thread and want it to go as a priority so others can go too. We explained to the president the logic of this decision and he said clearly – if you get support in the National Assembly with the two thirds that are needed for some of these solutions and laws that we are proposing, then he will consider this possibility. There is no violation of the Constitution because we have explained that this is part of the whole process of finding a stable majority to form a government. It's easy to make a government, it's hard to make that government do anything useful. That's why we want to put these important topics at the heart of the next government.

Asked if by "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" would talk to the excluded and left DPS PG, Nikolay Denkov noted: "Invitations were made to everyone, except for the people around Peevski, who very quickly expressed their opinion. The current situation suits them. They control a sufficient number of institutions, they use corruption in this way, and therefore there is nothing to talk to them about. Everyone else can have a conversation. Will it be for government, the answer is – no, today the conversation will be whether they are ready to work on these laws and decisions".
