Position of the BSP City Council - Sofia: The party must remain united

We will not succumb to provocations

In the conditions of a political crisis in the country, it is extremely important for the BSP to be stable and united, especially in the process of overcoming of the consequences of the series of severe electoral defeats.

The decisions of the last meeting of the BSP National Council, as well as those of the All-Party Control Commission, show that the collective and statutory beginning in the process of policy formation is returning to the Party. The efforts of a small part of the former leadership to obstruct the activities of the Party by judicial order are nothing but an attempt at sabotage.

We will not allow their malicious self-serving actions to divert us from the path we set out on June 15th. We will not succumb to provocations, nor to the temptation to act vindictively. Our goal is to bring back the intra-party dialogue, to achieve unification first of the Party, and then of the left in Bulgaria.

The city organization of the BSP in Sofia showed a year ago that this path is possible, after it came out with a single left-wing list for participation in the local elections. The results of this vote proved that the consolidation of the left was the only correct solution. Therefore, we support the actions of the interim leadership of the BSP for broad left unity and for the restoration of the dialogue with the presidential institution.

The party has a very strong foundation, which is based on ideas and values. They are universally human and impermanent. For equality, for justice, for solidarity, for the rights of working people. In recent years, part of the former BSP leadership had abandoned them. It is now time to turn to them again. To work sensibly and efficiently, to look for like-minded people, to consolidate the left. Because the place of the BSP is as the first political force in the country.

On the eve of the party's national assembly on Mount Buzludzha, it is appropriate to think not about one or another leadership ambitions, but about the members and sympathizers of the BSP who are loyal to the party without having held high positions.

Let's climb to the top together and lend a hand to lead our party and Bulgaria out of the political crisis!
