A strong summer storm put an end to the fire in the high part of Stara Planina. He is in the Beklemeto area, near the Troyan - Karnare pass, Nova TV reported.
Teams remain on duty just in case.
Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov went to the site today. The Troyan-Karnare pass is not closed, but there is a lot of equipment high up in the mountain and light traffic jams may form.
On the ridge of Stara Planina, dozens of firefighters and the unit of Stolichna Municipality, together with firefighters from the group that was sent to Greece, tried to put out the fire on Beklemeto before heavy rain fell. Employees of the “Central Balkan” park are also on site.
There was a helicopter flyover earlier. There was no phone coverage near the epicenter of the fire. To get to the hearth, one had to walk for a long time.
The municipality of Karlovo specified that the fire covered broad-leaved vegetation in hard-to-reach terrain with screes and precipices. Due to the danger of the elements also covering a coniferous forest, the fire was treated from the north and west.
Earlier today, His Holiness Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil prayed to God to send rain and stop the fires ravaging the country.
Pay attention to us as at that time – pray to the Lord to send rain from the sky to water the thirsty land, put out the fires and water the land to saturation", read His Holiness Patriarch Daniel.
