“I have been saying for a long time that there is a serious discrepancy between the wishes of the people and what the parties offer them. It will all break out someday, the question is where and how. I expected it to happen in the last election, it didn't happen, it will obviously happen in the next one. The systemic parties are collapsing, if they can be called systemic parties, because some of the big parties in Bulgaria are systemic, others are not. PP has never been a systemic party, and there will never be time to become one, while GERB, DPS and BSP were like that. How long they will last is a question I don't have an answer to, but it is logical that they should fall apart. It changes the way the political system works, the way the parties work and especially for old parties like the BSP because it requires a whole new approach that they don't have. The electorates and members within the party are not used to working in the new ways and there is resistance from within. It is logical that the older parties meet more resistance and lose more positions at the moment, said the spokesman of the caretaker governments of Stefan Yanev and Galab Donev, Anton Kutev, in the program "Supportive People". on Bulgaria ON AIR.
According to him, the changes are not easy and he does not know if the BSP will cope with them. After the image of the party was associated with Cornelia Ninova for five years, a complete rebranding should be done, Kutev believes.
“New faces in the party means people to come back. Would I go back, rather not. I would help in any situation, if I could be useful I would do so, but it is difficult to see myself, at least at this stage, in any function in the BSP. In order to be able to develop new policies through new faces, through new technologies, time is required, and it cannot be done until the sixth of October. The most likely elections will be on October 6. This leadership of the party will suffer another loss and another loss of results," commented Kutev to Bulgaria ON AIR.
He added that Cornelia Ninova is somehow to blame for the BSP's relationship with the president and for the low result of the elections.
“For me, ITN is the most logical party to win the third term, but this is a decision that the president must make. There are possibilities to form a government with the third mandate, but they are very small. Support should be sought from Peevski or Borisov there, this will become very difficult, there will be other compromises that have already refused to be made,” the guest pointed out.
Kutev stated that this parliament could have been called “The Parliament of Peevski”.
“It was the only parliament that was so dominated by Delyan Peevski that he was the only one who could unite it on some choice of government. The moment Peevski failed because he was betrayed by his own people for one reason or another, this parliament lost its meaning. There is no other figure who can unite the interests to such an extent that he can bring management inside”, he added about the upheavals in the DPS.
