This in itself is a very bad indicator of the position of Bulgaria in relation to the war between Russia and Ukraine. And completely unacceptable in my opinion”.
This is what the former Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev said on Nova TV about the proposal to send Nikolay Nenchev as ambassador to Kyiv
„In our cabinet, we made a decision to propose to the president to issue a decree for the appointment of another person - Petar Tanev. I know that Mr. Nenchev has been interested in this position for a long time”, he added.
According to his words, the interim government has aimed to send Nenchev as a temporary ruler, because this does not require the signature and consent of the president.
Tagarev was adamant that we need to solve this issue very quickly. „There was a proposal to send Petar Tanev as an ambassador. "Probably the caretaker government took measures and was refused, that's why it was decided to send a temporary person, which does not require the signature of the president," he believes.
Asked if Nenchev has already left for Ukraine, Tagarev said that he is still in Bulgaria. “It is still here, not in Kiev“.
„Ukraine is a country at war and not everyone would agree to go there. I think there are enough people who would. In Afghanistan, for example, we had an ambassador“, commented the former Minister of Defense.
According to him, there is a possibility that Ukraine did not respond to Petar Tanev's proposal.
