Every round hour, the Ministry of Environment and Water receives data on the quality of atmospheric air in the area of the village of Elin Pelin Station after the fire that occurred in the fireworks warehouse. To date, the air quality indicators do not exceed the regulated norms and do not endanger the life and health of people and animals in the region, reports the press center of the department.
At the moment, data from the mobile laboratory confirm that there are no registered exceedances of the average hourly standards for sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and ozone. There are no excesses of the eight-hour norm for carbon dioxide, the ministry also says.
Although elevated values of fine dust particles (PML 10) were reported in the first hours after the fire, there is already enough data to generate the average value for the past 24 hours on July 26. It is 39 micrograms/m3, which does not exceed the regulated norm of 50 micrograms/m3. Already yesterday in the late afternoon, the hourly values were normalized to an average of 12 mg/m3.
The mobile laboratory of the Environmental Executive Agency is located for continuous monitoring in the village of Gara Elin Pelin, about 1 km from the warehouse – the nearest safe settlement downwind in the area where it is permitted and has the necessary power. It will continue to monitor the air quality in the area and, if necessary, provide information on the current situation.
