A plane from France will join the fight against the fire on the Bulgarian-Greek border tomorrow. This was confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, quoted by BNT.
The fire, which has been burning for nearly a week, has today again entered Bulgarian territory in a space in which there are remaining mines, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov announced earlier today. The mines are the reason for both the Greek and the Bulgarian side to extinguish only with aircraft.
Due to the complicated situation, the EU civil protection mechanism has been activated.
The fire has already affected nearly 70 acres of area on our side of the border.
