„There are many more dangerous sites on the territory of the country than the one in Elin Pelin. In the event of an accident, the population can be endangered, we are talking about tens of thousands of people. Even in Sofia there are such objects. I have seen deviations in such objects”.
Professor Georgi Botev, an expert in fire safety, stated this to BNT.
"We are weak in managing the risk of these events. Somewhere in this big chain, things break, someone didn't get things done – the one who wrote the documentation, the builders or the owner”, he thinks.
In his words, in the incident near Elin Pelin, things were lighter because the pyrotechnics were of lower power. “What is seen is normal – however, there are large quantities of pyrotechnics inside.”, pointed out Prof. Botev.
„In the incident in Bobov Dol, six employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs died. In most cases, such incidents occur due to gross human errors. There we categorically established that the cause was a primary short circuit in a panel installed by the owner, he commented.
