The fire situation continues to be complicated. This was stated by Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev before the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers, reports novini.bg.

In the area of Mikrevo and Tsaparevo, a forest massif is burning. Efforts are being made to contain the fire to the south so that it does not spread to other populated areas. The residents of the two villages were evacuated and spent the night in Sandanski. Firefighters, military personnel, foresters and volunteers are in direct conflict with the elements, Glavchev explained.
In his words, the situation on the Greek border in Mount Slavyanka is complex and variable. "The fire has been raging for more than two weeks. The disaster was on Greek territory, unfortunately it also spread to Bulgarian territory. Efforts are being made there as well. And yesterday and today there are two planes from France. First they were over Slavyanka, then they moved over the villages of Mikrevo and Tsaparevo. There was a real danger to people's lives and property," the prime minister added.

He stressed the importance of the European Civil Protection Mechanism. "There is no country that can handle a disaster of this magnitude," he added.

The acting Prime Minister also commented on the work of the firefighters during the explosions near Elin Pelin: "Valentin Radev is an example of how a commander should behave. Imagine the risk they all took to save lives. In recent days, many people are examples of how one should fulfill one's duty," Glavchev pointed out.
