Eighteen military personnel with six specialized machines from are still helping today, August 11, to control the fire in Slavyanka Mountain on the Bulgarian-Greek border, the press center of the Ministry of Defense announced. The fire there continues for the 23rd day.
The fighters are from the Third Brigade Command – Blagoevgrad. The head of the module is Senior Lieutenant Georgi Gechov. The military personnel operate in the area of Goleshovo village, Sandanski municipality, Blagoevgrad district.
According to information from the military department, as of yesterday, over 2,120 servicemen with about 426 units of equipment from various formations of the Ground Forces are involved in extinguishing fires in various areas of the country.
The ground troops have been operating non-stop since July 12, together with their colleagues from the Air Force, firefighters from the General Directorate of "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population", employees of the country's forestry and volunteers, added the Ministry.
