A huge fire raging in North Macedonia threatens to enter Bulgaria near Simitli , reports BGNES.
The western slopes of Mount Kadiitsa are burning, nearby are the villages of Suhostrel and Troskovo.
Another firestorm is approaching, after the situation in the south-western parts of Bulgaria has slightly normalized.
The situation with the fire on Mount Slavyanka is calm, Engr. Plamen Poyukov, director of the "Katuntsi" SSC, told Radio Blagoevgrad.
"In the very perimeter of the fire, there are single smoldering foci of burnt stumps, but there is nothing serious and nothing that would endanger people or help the fire to spread, assured Poyukov.
Preventive clearances continue to be made in relation to the Western Front of the fire, as the Bulgarian teams are concerned that it is growing on Greek territory. Their goal is to prevent him from crossing the border.
Today, airplanes are not involved in extinguishing the fire, as they are used for peak fires and there is no need for them in this case. 105 people are on the ground, there are enough fire engines, the military is also available.
"We have enough people and equipment in the field, with which we can attack the local outbreaks and, most importantly, to water the dead forest floor, since there the fire is invisible and spreads underground,", added the director of the DGS" ;Katunci".
The fire that broke out yesterday afternoon at the defunct nitrogen station near Bobov Dol has been completely brought under control, the mayor of the mining town, Elsa Velichkova, told BNR.
The several fires smoldering in the mixed forest nearby in the direction of the villages of Zhedna and Radomir are being observed - there the teams continue to extinguish them.
