Adv. Dimitar Markovski on the investigation of Rumen Gaitanski: First we beat, then we ask - 1

The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPCONPI), prosecutors and police searched properties and offices of Rumen Gaitanski - Valka and Stoyan Mavrodiev.

"These are actions that are quite late in time. This European investigation warrant that was issued was based on specific information received at the time. The big question is what caused the delay in this information and how the late reaction of the European Public Prosecutor's Office came to be. Once they got some data there, their reaction was quick. The way in which these procedural-investigative actions are carried out are professional at first glance, not disclosed in advance with the idea of not leaking information through certain channels", said lawyer Dimitar Markovski in "Day ON AIR".

According to him, the big question is why the facts of the given case are coming so late.

"All politicians look for some political parallels to steer public opinion in their direction. But the existing facts about the granting of this credit go way back in time and have existed. The big professional question is what did the prosecutor's office do that it was so late to establish certain facts in this case," added Markovski to Bulgaria ON AIR.

According to the lawyer, there is a huge amount of documentation on the case, which should be checked during the investigation.

"Obviously, hot water is not being discovered now on the case. Certain facts are not that complicated and difficult. A specific loan is granted, it is strictly targeted - this is the one thing to check. The other thing that has legal significance is the security of this financial resource. The granting of such significant loans also goes through the bank's collective management bodies. If the prosecutor's office works in these two areas, it will answer the question of whether there is a crime or not," commented the guest.

This report has no legal value, according to Markovski.

"The prosecutor's office must independently carry out actions on the investigation, appoint the relevant experts, examine the data and evidence. These facts are removed 4 years after they were known. Obviously, this moment was used and used in some direction. The investigation and the prosecutor's office often when they find out that a person does not live at their address or does not answer their phone, rush to issue wanted bulletins, and we fall into the situation "first we knock, then we ask". These are famous people, they are not anonymous persons", explained the lawyer.
