Signal from NOVA viewers. A tourist was seen swimming in Babreka - one of the protected Seven Rila Lakes. Footage from Wednesday morning, taken just after 10 a.m., shows a boy entering the lake's waters and then beginning to swim.
„On Wednesday alone we have five attempts to enter the lakes prevented. Especially for the specific case, no signal was sent. There was no one in the area to respond. Therefore, I call on anyone who witnesses such a violation – to let us know. There are signs everywhere – in Bulgarian and English, in which it is written that bathing in the lakes is prohibited”. This was stated on the air of “Hello, Bulgaria” the director of National Park "Rila" Krasimir Andonov.
He explained that initially an act was being written to establish an administrative violation. “After that, a criminal decree is issued. But when we have not sent a signal and the offender is not caught on the spot, it is difficult to establish who he is, Andonov stressed.
And he added that for this season alone, 7-8 fines have been imposed for bathing in the lakes.
