Holy relics, Holy Gospel, staff, icons, liturgical items and utensils, as well as paintings, coins and weapons were found during a specialized operation conducted on the territory of the Gabrovo region, the Ministry of the Interior announced.
Over 500 church relics were seized during the specialized operation of the GDBOP, held yesterday on the territory of the Gabrovo Region.
In the course of the action to stop traffic, expropriate and keep cultural values, three properties and a car were searched and seized. One person was detained for up to 24 hours.
The police actions of the GDBOP officers were carried out under the direction and supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office – Gabrovo.
Holy relics, a Holy Gospel, two bishop's staffs, icons, liturgical items and church utensils, as well as paintings, coins and weapons are among the items found in the private homes searched.
Expertises are pending. The leadership of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church has been notified of the police actions.
