Bulgaria is still burning today - 1

A fire is burning in the area of Breznik, Bozhurishte and Slivnitsa. The fire that earlier today had covered the hamlet “Logator” in the land of the village of Goz in Bresni, as well as lands in the neighboring villages of Rakita and Gurgulyat in the municipality of Slivnitsa, moved to the forest near Arzan and Goz. The fire in the Breznik region is low-level, but there are several outbreaks, and there is a strong wind. Flames also entered the forest above Arzan, BNR reported.

Teams of the Regional Services “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” in Breznik and Pernik, teams of "State Forestry-Breznik" and firefighters from Sofia are fighting the flames. The fire truck and the water truck of the Municipality of Breznik are also on site.

In the hamlet “Logator” the fire reached meters from the houses, but was brought under control. No people were injured. An elderly person was taken out of his home, as there was a danger that the flames would engulf his house, the deputy mayor of the villages of Goz and Babitsa - Strati Stratiev announced.

Extinguishing the fire in Rila mountain continues. The fire covered more than 10 acres of dry grass and bushes, and extinguishing it remains almost impossible due to the rough terrain and the high altitude at which it is located.

Throughout the day today, crews from the Fire Department, forest rangers, park rangers and volunteers are trying to contain the fire. Because of the hard-to-reach terrain, almost no equipment can be used, not even manual sprayers.

The police in Kyustendil said that at the moment it is not possible to request firefighting with a helicopter, so volunteers will be relied on.

In the Vidin village of Gyurgich, the fire flared up again, which yesterday reached meters from the houses, but was extinguished late last night. No one was injured. There is no longer a threat to the buildings, but the flames have engulfed a pine forest near the village. There are 6 teams of the fire brigade, water carriers and agricultural machinery on site. Volunteers are also helping to extinguish the fire, said the mayor of Ruzhintsi municipality, Alexander Alexandrov.

"For the moment, they have stopped the fire that could threaten the village."

They continue to fight the fire in Gyurgich.

"At the same time the pine forest is burning and the fire is very strong and big. Two fire engines are going there and are currently trying to cross the one place where there are fewer trees. The other two fire stations are at the other end of the village, where there are agricultural crops, but the farmers are there. They used boards with tractors to put out the fire, which in one part of the village had literally reached the houses. The buildings to the left and right as you enter the village of Gyurgich were smoked. The sign is burnt, which is indicative of the power of the fire"

Three vodonskis full of water are on standby if for some reason the water stops in the water supply, which is used to extinguish the fire, said Alexander Alexandrov.
