The director of the General Directorate "Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Combating Terrorism" ; Chief Commissioner Dimitar Andonov received a dismissal order from his post on September 2 yesterday, NOVA learned from gendarmerie officials.
Andonov, stated that at the moment "I am not released yet, so to speak". So far, the reasons for his release are not known.
The purge in the Ministry of Internal Affairs started yesterday from the top. At the request of the new minister, Atanas Ilkov, Dimitar Kangaldzhiev was released as Deputy Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, from whose position he was acting as Chief Secretary. In his place, the director of GDBOP Yavor Serafimov was appointed as Deputy Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
There has been no titular chief secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for months after the release of Zhivko Kotsev. The Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is appointed by presidential decree on the proposal of the government.
Yesterday it became clear that two of Kalin Stoyanov's deputies - Stoyan Temelakiev and Hristo Stefanov - were also released.
