An accident with a victim has closed the Varna-Burgas road. The driver who caused the accident tested positive for methamphetamine.
The disaster happened around 1:49 p.m. in the area after Khanska Shatra. A car with Varna registration, driven by a 39-year-old German citizen, entered the oncoming lane when turning left in the direction of Burgas. A car with Plovdiv registration, driven by a 32-year-old woman from Karlovo, hit head-on. Both her parents were in the vehicle with her. The 67-year-old mother of the driver died on the spot, and her 66-year-old father suffered bruises.
Both drivers have been tested for alcohol and drug use. The second test for the German citizen was positive for the use of methamphetamine.
The road section is closed for inspection and until the crashed cars are moved, as well as for roadway cleaning. Traffic has been diverted along an alternative route through “Dyulinski” passage Motor vehicles over 3.5 tons are waiting on the spot.
