A new call for resignations in the top military leadership was made by Dimitrina Popova through social networks. Popova is the wife of MiG-29 pilot Major Valentin Terziev, who died in 2021. The call came after the death of the two military pilots on Friday near Graf Ignatievo with the L-39.
Dimitrina Popova insisted again on the resignations of “this leadership of the Air Force, led by the chief of defense, They do not work!!! How many more victims??? BOW!!“, she wrote, quoted by BNT.
When asked about his resignation, the head of the Air Force, Major General Dimitar Petrov, described the loss of his best friend as a punishment. The Ministry of Defense has not yet specified the dates for the two pilgrimages to Major Petko Dimitrov and Senior Lieutenant Ventsislav Dunkin.
This will probably happen after the necessary checks are completed. The black box of the L-39 training plane was also found on Friday. Today, Sunday and Monday are declared days of mourning in the military structures. Flags will be at half-mast. The crashed plane was repaired in June 2024 under a contract with the Czech manufacturer.
Under the supervision of the Military District Prosecutor's Office-Plovdiv, investigative actions continue to investigate and establish the causes of the crash of the L-39 ZA combat training aircraft at the “Graf Ignatievo“ air base, in which two people died on 13/09/2024 military pilots. A forensic medical examination has been appointed.
When an inspection was carried out at the scene of the accident, the so-called “black box“ of the aircraft, which is provided for the preparation of expertise. All the documentation related to the planning and implementation of the flight was seized, both from the “Graf Ignatievo“ air base, and from the base in “Dolna Mitropolia“. Video recordings showing the movement of the trainer-combat aircraft immediately before the crash have been added to the materials of the pre-trial proceedings.
Interrogations of witnesses and officials from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria related to the incident continue. An additional thorough inspection of the accident site will be carried out today.
During the last 35 years, the Bulgarian political class has been slowly and with sadistic methodical destruction of the Bulgarian army and, in particular, of the Bulgarian combat aviation. Bulgarian politicians have no right to judge anyone but themselves for Bulgarian soldiers who died in accidents.
