The Judicial College of the Supreme Judicial Council begins the procedure for electing the president of the Supreme Administrative Court, NOVA reported.
The schedule of the procedure will be discussed in a committee of the SJC. According to preliminary information, the proposal is to hold the election on February 13 next year - a month after the vote for a new chief prosecutor.
The mandate of the current chairman of the SAC, Georgi Cholakov, expires on November 22, but because of the attacked changes in the Constitution, the SJC was waiting for its launch. At least three members of the Judicial College, the Minister of Justice and the Plenum of the Supreme Administrative Court may make proposals for the chairman of the Supreme Administrative Court. The election is considered successful if the candidate receives at least 17 votes from the 25-member Supreme Judicial Council.
