The private lesson reached BGN 40 - 1

Private lessons in basic subjects such as Bulgarian language and literature, mathematics and foreign languages reached average price of BGN 40 per lesson. This represents a significant increase of about 30% compared to the situation four years ago, when the average price was BGN 30.

This is according to a study by Telegraph.bg.

The research reveals a wide range of prices - from 20 to 100 BGN, and the duration of the classes varies between 40 and 90 minutes. An exception is Velingrad, where Bulgarian and Russian language lessons are offered at prices between BGN 10 and BGN 15 per hour.

Lessons in Bulgarian language and literature are more affordable, where many ads offer help for 20-35 BGN. However, foreign language training turns out to be more expensive, with prices rarely falling below BGN 35 and most often reaching BGN 40 per hour.

Some teachers are distinguished by self-confidence about the results of their students. They guarantee high marks in the exams, especially in mathematics and English, and the price for their services can reach 100 BGN for an astronomical hour.

Mathematics courses in English are an interesting alternative. They are held in groups, once a week for two hours, and the price per hour is about BGN 15. The total cost of such a course varies between 1000 and 1600 BGN.

An audit by the Audit Office, published a few months ago, reveals that 60% of parents in Bulgaria pay for private lessons.

The main reasons for this are:

48% believe that school preparation is not sufficient to move to the next educational stage.

43% believe that schooling does not guarantee learning the learning material.

Only 23% hire private tutors to upgrade school knowledge.

Among families that do not use the services of private tutors:

73% see no need for additional training.

20% cannot afford this expense.

3% prefer to personally help their children with their lessons.
