What we saw after the rather lively debates was that GERB and BSP left the baton in the hands of Delyan Peevski. Mr. Slavchev unfortunately remains the head of the Anti-Corruption Commission, despite the fact that this commission does not work and we do not see any anti-corruption action. This was stated by the co-chairman of “We continue the change” Asen Vasilev before journalists in the parliament, quoted by novini.bg.
„We saw that another gate of Peevski was lit up and it is the BSP – A new beginning“, he added.
When asked if there were legal gaps due to the need for a qualified majority of 2/3, Vassilev said: “Actually, a qualified majority is not needed – The Constitution is absolutely categorical on this point. GERB stumbled on exactly this norm of the Constitution when they tried to nominate Rosen Zhelyazkov as Speaker of the Parliament in the 48th National Assembly. Then they needed 121 votes, because that's what the Constitution says. They did not have them and Rosen Zhelyazkov did not then become the chairman of the National Assembly. After several days, Vezhdi Rashidov was rotated. So, GERB knows that I don't read the Constitution well and there is no legal gap”, explained the former Minister of Finance.
„ We do not have a dialogue with GERB at the moment, so there is nothing to be blocked,”, he answered when asked if this is how the dialogue in GERB is blocked.
