The serial numbers of several voting machines will be drawn by lot , which will go through certification of compliance before the upcoming elections, BNT reported.
Traditionally, they are drawn randomly at the Ministry of e-Government, and the procedure is public and precedes the trusted construction of the software. The aim is to avoid doubts about the fairness of the vote.
The acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev will be present at the draw. The members of the CEC, as well as the parties represented in parliament, are also invited.
In the local elections in 2023, it was the authentication process that was the reason why the CEC decided not to have a machine vote in the first round. The conformity of the machine voting devices is certified by a decision of the MEU, the Bulgarian Institute for Standardization and the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology.
