Bulgaria allocates the most money in the entire European Union of its Gross Domestic Product for policing and security. Values vary from 0.7% in Ireland to 2.5% in our country. Another statistic indicates that more than 88% of those employed in the Ministry of Internal Affairs system are not engaged in either investigation, public order protection, or combating criminal offences.
The author of the analysis is Zornitsa Slavova from the Institute for Market Economy. She commented on the data on the air of “Hello, Bulgaria”. According to her, each territorial structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs maintains its own administration, which, according to the author of the study, largely duplicates the activities of the central one.
„What is even more shocking is that, despite the constantly growing budget in our country, 90% of it goes to salaries. However, the employees in the field do not have high salaries, nor even good conditions, but work, adds Zornitsa Slavova.
