Bones and clothes were found of a man from Zlatograd who disappeared two years ago, the director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Smolyan, senior commissioner Tsvetan Tsankov, told BTA.
We assume that it is Asen Ajerov, since his son recognized the items found on the spot and his father's purse, Tsankov also pointed out.
The bones were found in an area between the villages of Dolen and Startsevo.
Asen Ajerov disappeared at the end of 2022 and was declared an international wanted man.
According to the police, the 73-year-old man had memory problems due to age-related dementia and other diseases. At the time, the police were verifying information received from three 10-year-old children that they had noticed near the village of Dolen, a man similar to the wanted description.
The man is missing after walking to his villa near Zlatograd. He was wearing a black tracksuit and a gray hat.
In the case, a pre-trial proceeding has been initiated and the appointment of expertise, including the DNA expertise, is pending, Deputy District Prosecutor Stancho Stanchev said.
