In close coordination between the Situation Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our embassy in Beirut, the Bulgarian and partner services, the first group of Bulgarian citizens who were evacuated from Lebanon with the assistance of Canada returned safely to Bulgaria last night, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced, relayed BTA.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues the work of providing assistance to our compatriots and their family members for their timely return to Bulgaria. A connection has been established with those who sought assistance, using all possibilities for their safe return, the department states.
BTA recalls that on September 30, the first Bulgarian citizens who wished to evacuate from Lebanon returned home on a flight from Beirut, carried out by the government plane “Airbus” by a team of the State Aviation Operator. 89 Bulgarian citizens and members of their families arrived in our country.
On October 1, the second evacuation flight from Beirut was successfully completed. With the government's “Airbus“ 80 Bulgarian citizens and their family members landed in Bulgaria, bringing the total number of Bulgarians evacuated from Lebanon to 169.
