The Sofia City Court ordered the hearing, at which the prosecutor's office's request to impose a measure of remand on Ceyhan Ibryamov will be considered, to be considered behind closed doors, due to data in the case covers that can be classified as a matter of national security, which covers the characteristics of a state secret.
At the beginning of the session, prosecutor Ivaylo Petrov from the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office requested that the session be held behind closed doors due to the classified information contained in the case. Ibryamov's lawyers stated that they support the prosecutor's request.
Judge Ivan Stoilov indicated that he is also familiar with the materials in the case and ordered that the hearing be held without the presence of other people, except for the parties to the case. The judge added that the media will be invited inside the courtroom at a later stage to explain to them what decision the court made at the request of the prosecution.
On entering the courtroom, Jeyhan Ibryamov refused to comment to the media.
BTA recalls that the Speaker of the National Assembly Raya Nazaryan and the Central Election Commission allowed the removal of the immunity of Ceyhan Ibryamov as a representative and candidate for deputy, following a request from the prosecutor's office to indict him.
