I do not think that Mr. Sarafov is the problem as a person and a magistrate. I have known him for about 20 years, him and his wife. He is a career prosecutor, well accepted among his colleagues. There is nothing wrong with them nominating him, as the prosecutorial part of the judiciary seems to have calmed down now with his election as acting. This is what the former city prosecutor of Sofia, Nikolay Kokinov, commented on the air of Nova TV about the nomination of I.F. Borislav Sarafov as the incumbent for the position.
There is something to stop the procedure, but if it reaches the date of January 16 and there is still one candidate, there is nothing to stop it, commented lawyer Velislav Velichkov from "Justice for Everyone". According to him, this can be done by the National Assembly, if it decides to elect a new composition of the Supreme Judicial Council or through changes in the Law on Judicial Power, which would prohibit the election of a new chief prosecutor from a composition of the SJC with an expired mandate.
