Nearly 500 migrants in nine boats reached Britain in just one day across the English Channel, reported DPA, quoted by BTA, citing data from the British Home Office.
According to the information of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a total of 471 illegal migrants arrived on British shores through the English Channel on nine boats in the course of yesterday alone. The day before, on Friday, 142 illegal migrants arrived there with two boats.
This brings a total of 27,225 illegal migrants across the Channel since the start of the year, which is around 5 percent more than the same period last year, but 25 percent less than the same period in 2022.

On October 5, four migrants died, including a two-year-old boy, in an attempt to cross the English Channel in two large boats. On the same day, a total of 973 migrants arrived in Britain across the English Channel on 17 boats, which is the largest number in one day this year.
Britain's Home Office has vowed to crack down on the business model of smugglers who put migrants' lives at risk crossing the Channel. The Ministry of Internal Affairs assured that all persons responsible for this will be brought to justice.
