The ground for the construction of the National Children's Hospital will be fully cleared by November. The plan for the structure and capacity of the medical facility was also adopted. In a few months, the construction should also start, so that in 2028, Bulgaria will have a functioning National Children's Hospital. A stagnation of 40 years will be overcome in 4 years. This was stated by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, who together with the Minister of Health, Galya Kondeva, personally verified the progress in the implementation of this nationally significant project.

The health of Bulgarian children should be a top priority for everyone, Prime Minister Glavchev was categorical. He pointed out that the preparations for the construction of the National Children's Hospital continue to be carried out in a shortened time frame and all activities are running in parallel. The land is ready for construction ahead of schedule, a commitment made by the caretaker government. Accordingly, the adopted structure in the hospital is envisaged to have 440 beds spread over 26 clinics and departments, including child psychiatry, genetics laboratory, nuclear medicine and physiotherapy and rehabilitation. The goal is to ensure complex care for children and excellent conditions for the work and development of medical specialists, Glavchev pointed out.

The Minister of Health emphasized the efforts being made to overcome the problem of the shortage of medical personnel. Dr. Kondeva highlighted the BGN 15 million project to promote specializations in specialties and areas with a shortage of specialists, with the biggest incentives planned for paediatrics. A strategy has also been developed in relation to the shortage of nurses, the Minister of Health also pointed out. Asked by the media about the status of the future children's hospital, Dr. Kondeva said that the topic is being discussed, but expressed the opinion that the medical facility should have a special status.
