Tihomir Bezlov: About 1,000 sections of the elections were risky - 1

General conclusions cannot be made that everything was bought and that the early elections were unfair, given that the elections are what our organizational culture is. It is true that some political leaders are tempted to use dishonest practices, but the political parties that are present in the parliament must have realized that such an approach will come back to them like a boomerang with the rise of populist parties.
This is what Vanya Nusheva, an expert on electoral systems and political sciences, said on the air of BNT, quoted by novini.bg

According to her, measures should be taken in the fight against the bought vote when the electoral process is over.

"Phenomena such as bought vote, controlled vote and family vote cannot be fought with noisy police actions, Nusheva pointed out.

"With only one high-profile operation arresting petty criminals, the entire vote-buying scheme cannot be exposed.

Vanya Nusheva pointed out that the Ministry of the Interior plays a key role in the fight against the bought vote, as well as the violence against journalists during the early parliamentary elections. There is no way to collect the evidence against vote buying so easily, and the evidence must be collected on the ground, not by accident, Nusheva insisted.
Tikhomir Bezlov from the Center for the Study of Democracy (CID) explained that the early parliamentary elections were much more intense compared to the previous elections. About 1,000 polling stations were at risk. If the MIA focuses on the 1,000 precincts in question and the vote buyers are found, such an effort would limit similar vote-buying in future early elections.

According to Bezlov, in order to reveal which party buys votes, special intelligence means should be used.
