The Winter campaign has started - they can take down the license plates even for minor problems - 1

From today, the "Winter" campaign starts, which will last until November 10 2024. The traffic police will pay particular attention to whether the car's tires are suitable for winter conditions, whether the fluids have been changed and what condition the car's lights are in.

The most harmless problem with the car's lighting can be the reason for us to be fined on the road - for example, if a headlight or brake light bulb burns out. Then each of us should be able to change it on the spot.

"I've been fined for not having lights and because of burnt out light bulbs, so that's a pretty serious problem and now with the autumn and winter season coming up, lights are a very important thing. Years ago, I tried to change the light bulbs myself, I don't recommend it, it's better to go to a service center", Zdravko Ivanov thinks.

"Regarding headlights, the law is categorical that a car with a faulty lighting system cannot be driven until it is removed," said Krasi Georgiev.

"In a situation where we have non-working lights, the options are to remove them on site if we have the bulbs and skills.

Another option is to call "Roadside Assistance" to take us to a service station. There is also a third option, which is related to additional services that different companies offer based on an annual subscription to call a mobile service to come and help us. But the absence of a headlight or a brake light gives reason to the "Traffic Police" to stop us, including removing license plates, as this is a technically defective car", Vladimir Todorov is categorical.

"My advice to everyone, especially before winter, is to turn to the relevant repair shops for help, to do the appropriate service,'' pointed out Georgiev.

For the first time this year, the traffic police will not show tolerance during mass checks during the "Winter" action.
