He is of the opinion that the election of the Speaker of the National Assembly will take place even without the participation of PP-DB. “This game with the election of the chairman of the National Assembly makes no sense, except to block the work”, Cholakov pointed out.
„ GERB is rightly silent at the moment because it is waiting for the initial emotion to pass and PP-DB to consider that it is best to ask for a coalition agreement and participate in this government. "I don't know if the PP is ready to be in opposition," said the politician. And he added that “if the PP-DB do not want any other political force to participate in the government, the most normal thing is for them to participate”.
Cholakov is of the opinion that “PP-DB want to delegitimize the National Assembly and for it to delegate its right to elect to external factors”. “What they envision is to create ad hoc nomination committees where non-governmental organizations broadcast nominations for the various bodies and the National Assembly is forced to choose what is proposed to it. This is the ultimate goal," the politician said.
„I think that the National Assembly can independently amend the Constitution with 180 votes, return the powers of the president to appoint a caretaker government, preserve the right of the National Assembly to be uninterrupted and take another look at the issue of dual citizenship,” said Cholakov.
On the subject of the election of the chief prosecutor, he said: “If the PP-DB, who are very demanding to find a solution to this issue, continue to sabotage the formation of a government, Borislav Sarafov will be the chief prosecutor in January.”< /p>
