The distribution in the 51st Parliament allows for three different governments with a majority of between 120 and 140 votes. Rumyana Bachvarova, a sociologist, former interior minister and Bulgarian ambassador to Israel, said this to bTV.
„The most obvious opportunity is with the first term – GERB, PP-DB and possibly ITN would have about 120 votes. Let's not forget Ahmed Dogan's declaration that they would support. Then we would have a majority of 143 votes, which is quite enough to start the work of a regular government," Bachvarova said.
According to her, GERB can also invite DPS-New Beginning, ITN and BSP. The third option is PP-DB with the second mandate, where all the others will gather, but here also "Vazrazhdane" should be included.
According to Bachvarova, these three options cross many red lines, but give a chance for a government to solve the most important issues. Now the country has stalled development and is at a dead end, she believes.
Bachvarova stated that if GERB does not accept the demands of PP-DB for the isolation of DPS-Novo naslo, it loses chances to form a regular government once again and this would be a big failure.
In her words, the most important task will be to make a program for the protection and restoration of Bulgarian democracy. She believes that she is threatened because of the institutions that work for someone's sole will. Because the electoral process is compromised with all the suspicions of a bought and falsified vote. This should be supported by a legislative program to strengthen the status of political parties.
