„The permanent position of our parliamentary group is that Boyko Borisov is not admissible for prime minister. We do not dispute the right of colleagues from GERB, which of their ranks is best for prime minister, but because we believe that in a divided Bulgaria, the prime minister should not be a highly politicized, polarizing, divisive figure. This is what he stated in the program “ ;Wake up” Nadezhda Yordanova from PP-DB.
„Two days before the opening of the parliament, we and the first political force are talking on TV,”, Yordanova also stated. “There are no consultations initiated by GERB. Officially, we are not wanted for talks, nor for support for a chairman, nor for anything. Yesterday I followed the GERB meeting, I did not get an answer as to how they think a majority should be formed to elect a chairman. They don't have a majority, they don't have a formula for how to do it,”, Yordanova said.
She also indicated the conditions under which the PP-DB would support a candidate for the chairman of the National Assembly.
„We would support a candidate who would be elected and supported by a majority that would not allow Peevski into the leadership of the National Assembly. At the moment, we have no reason to support a chairman proposed by GERB”, Yordanova said.
She added that PP-DB will decide on Sunday whether they will propose a name for the chairman of the National Assembly.
„We are far from the conversation about the governance of the country, it is a pity. Bulgaria needs a stable government, added Yordanova.
She also commented on the protest and counter-protest in front of the National Theater, as well as the presence of PP-DB representatives at one.
„This was not a counter-protest, but a civil request that everyone has the right to access culture. It is wrong to oppose citizens to politicians. I call on my colleagues not to try at the peak of civic energy, to ride the protest,” said Nadezhda Yordanova.
„The interior minister had to resign. Unfortunately, he showed a complete lack of understanding of his duties. What we saw the other day in the evening in front of the National Theater did not meet the standards. The leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had not properly assessed the situation, Yordanova said.
