A civil initiative collects signatures for a referendum on whether Bulgaria should become a presidential republic republic. This was announced by former BSP deputy in the 44th National Assembly, Krasimir Yankov, who is the coordinator of the idea.
He said that in regional cities and municipalities, voluntary citizen councils would be "summoned" and they would establish a citizen movement for a presidential republic. According to Yankov, this will not be a political party and has nothing to do with "status quo politicians".
Four years ago, Krasimir Yankov left the BSP as a sign of disagreement with the policies of the then leader Kornelia Ninova and headed the "Bulgarian Progressive Line" formation, declared a left-wing political project.
