Deputy Minister of Defense Radostin Iliev and Deputy Chief of Defense Lieutenant General Mihail Popov will take part in the commemoration of the combat holiday of the Ground Forces on November 19 in front of the Pantheon “Mother Bulgaria” near the village of Gurgulyat.
The solemn celebration will start at 12:45 p.m. and the President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev is invited to it. The head of state will be greeted with an honor guard, as well as the flag of the Ground Forces. Military personnel from the Ground Forces will be honored with awards on behalf of the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Defense and the Commander of the Ground Forces for demonstrated professionalism in the performance of official duties. Next to the Pantheon of those who died in the Serbo-Bulgarian War, samples of weapons and equipment of the Ground Forces will be presented, as well as the photo exhibition "Ground Forces - we are where we are needed".
Before the start of the solemn celebration tomorrow, the officers, sergeants and civilians of the command of the Land Forces, generals of the reserve who have led over the years the largest type of armed forces, representatives of the Association of the Land Forces and students of the 10th and 11th grades from schools in Sofia, Slivnitsa, Elin Pelin and the village of Gara Elin Pelin will walk in the footsteps of Slivnitsa heroes from Slivnitsa to Gurgulyat. Wreaths and flowers will be laid at the places where the most decisive battles of the Serbo-Bulgarian War took place in 1885.
This year, the Land Forces are celebrating 146 years since their establishment, 139 years since the Serbo-Bulgarian War (1885) and are celebrating their battle holiday to commemorate the glorious victories at Slivnitsa, Gurgulyat, Meka Tsrev, Tri Ushi and Vidin.< /p>
