Anton Zlatanov: It is not fair for someone to take credit for our full Schengen membership

Anton Zlatanov: It is not fair for someone to take credit for our full Schengen membership - 1

"It's not fair someone to take credit for our full Schengen membership. This is why many politicians and many people from the professional leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have worked. In the end, we worked very hard. Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov, head of the Border Police, said this in "The Day Begins". on BNT, quoted by novini.bg.

He recalled that on December 12, the political decision on the country's accession to Schengen will be made, which would not be possible without the professional work of the teams.

"With Romania, we are a team at a professional level, but we are the external border of the EU and we should not underestimate ourselves - we have done a lot of work. The migrant flow is no longer through us. The situation on the Bulgarian-Turkish border remains under the greatest attention for us. For the last 24 hours, there have been over 70 attempts to cross the border illegally, and none have crossed the border illegally. We broke up 12 large groups for illegal trafficking - we watched them for a long time in order to collect enough evidence and to put their leaders and organizers in prison," Chief Commissioner Zlatanov explained.

According to him, we welcome people on "Frontext" who are on the Bulgarian-Turkish and Bulgarian-Serbian borders. Mix our and foreign colleagues and you get wonderful teams. We have the busiest land border in the EU.
"People from the Border Police, the Gendarmerie, the Bulgarian Army work here. This year, the staff increased by 1,200 people, a recruitment campaign was launched, over 2,600 applicants. We have made the work of a border policeman attractive and interesting. Our people deal with other people's problems, we need to motivate them - they should receive sufficient remuneration. Now the new entrants receive BGN 1,300 each. and when there are such cases, they are disclosed, and the guilty removed — and the comfort of the honest officers is provided. There is no way to practice corrupt practices for a long time - if there are negative signals, the Western services would not consider us a correct partner. All compromised sections of the fence along the border with Turkey are being restored. Each change of patrols begins with a view to its integrity. We announced public procurement last year, but it is moving slowly. 100 km from the fence there was no video surveillance, now its construction begins. When two parents have a dispute about their children's travel, one of them should file a complaint in court - this is the practice for the Schengen area," added the head of the Border Police.
