Georgian ambassador to Bulgaria Otar Berdzenishvili announced in a post on the social network "Ex" ; that he is resigning.
„During my long diplomatic career (more than two decades), together with my colleagues, I have been actively involved in advancing the process of Euro-Atlantic and EU integration and in building a solid and trust-based strategic partnership with our allies, especially with the United States”, he wrote in his message.
The ambassador adds that tireless efforts to achieve these goals “must not be undermined and compromised” no way.
At the end of his message, he expressed support for the protesting people in Georgia and called for no violence against them.
Protests in the country started last night, after yesterday the ruling party “Georgian Dream” announced that he would freeze the negotiations for the country's accession to the EU for four years.
Otar Berdzenishvili has been the ambassador of Georgia to Bulgaria since 2023. Previously, he was an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and between 2017 and 2022 was ambassador to South Korea, reported the Georgian publication Сivil.ge.
