"We Continue the Change" will support the candidacy of gen. Atanas Atanasov, because DSB is our coalition partner. This was announced by the press center of “We continue the Change” (PP), cited by BTA.
„Since GERB refused to sign the declaration to isolate Peevski from power, “We Continue the Change" will not hold talks with GERB for the Speaker of the Parliament”, the formation states.
If the coalition candidate does not receive the necessary support, “We Continue the Change” will continue to support any other candidate from a party that has signed the declaration to remove Peevski from power.
For “Continuing the Change” it is extremely important to get the parliament up and running as soon as possible. This will allow: to stop the election of Sarafov as the chief prosecutor, as well as his remaining as an acting official; to pass the 2025 budget to have funds for salaries and pensions; to adopt the anti-corruption legislation, including in order to receive the billions of European funds under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, according to the PP.
Earlier today, the National leadership of “Democrats for a strong Bulgaria” (DSB) offered the coalition partners “Yes, Bulgaria” and “We Continue the Change” that a common candidate of the coalition for the chairman of the 51st National Assembly (NA) - the chairman of the DSB Atanas Atanasov.
„We believe that his long-term political experience, the proven results in his relentless fight against corruption at the highest levels of power and with the Russian “fifth column” qualify him as the most suitable candidate”, DSB pointed out.
