Vigenin: We are not talking about a political coalition, but about joint support - 1

"We are entering the talks with caution and skepticism, because we are the only left-wing party in this parliament full of right-wing parties. The talks that will be held must be very carefully monitored by our side. A political coalition is not possible, as some imagine it", this was stated in "The Day Begins" on BNT by the deputy chairman of "BSP - United Left" Kristian Vigenin.

We are also carefully monitoring the approach of the other parties, not only GERB, added Vigenin.

"There is still a way to go. Based on the conversation, we will assess whether there will be any next steps".

It is easiest to say that we are heading towards elections, but the main motivation of "BSP - United Left" is to continue these talks to see how far we can go.

"Let's avoid some quick early elections, because they will not bring anything different".

"The chances of success, no matter how we define "success", are no greater than the chances of the next elections".

In the end, we always end up with the same situation, in which the parties must find a way to unite in some way.

"In these talks, we start with several things that are important to us. We need to test the waters, both with regard to GERB and potentially other parties."

The government must have a clear program with a specific deadline. We are not talking about a political coalition, but about joint support. Our priorities must be very clearly visible in it, Vigenin said. He pointed out the demographic crisis, the resumption of the Belene NPP project and others as key ones.

"There is also the topic of selecting regulators through a transparent procedure, changes to the law on the Judiciary and the suspension of the procedure for selecting a prosecutor general".

On these issues, we are obviously of the same opinion with the PP-DB, which is why we signed their declaration, Vigenin said.

"But this cannot be the only topic that unites us. "Just one element of how we build a state based on the rule of law."

If a broad expert government is reached, talks will have to be held with the other political formations, said the deputy chairman of the "BSP - United Left."
