MPs will not undergo blood tests for alcohol and drug use. This was decided by the parliament, rejecting the proposal with only 61 votes in favor, 62 against and 86 abstentions. Although in the Temporary Committee drafting the rules, this proposal was accepted by everyone, except for PP-DB, in the hall it was rejected without debate, BNR reports.
Vazrazhdane, ITN, MECH and 1 MP from GERB-SDF voted in favor.
One of the submitters - the chairman of the PG of ITN Toshko Yordanov, expressed disappointment with the change in the positions of the MPs:
"What happened from yesterday to today, you shouldn't have gone to eat some pizza, that you changed your mind like that. Colleagues, I don't understand why and what this fear is of submitting to a drug and alcohol test twice a year given that every Bulgarian citizen, if caught with a drug test, will be told the game. Are the deputies more important than ordinary Bulgarian citizens here? What's the problem? Especially since it's written exactly for a blood test. It's not like someone can take Nurofen and it turns out that they've used a substance".
