Viktor Orban's visit is more in his capacity as prime minister of Hungary, rather than as the prime minister of the country presiding over the European Union (EU). This was said in an interview for the program "Face to Face" on bTV by Stefan Yanev, leader of "Bulgarian Rise", former minister of defense and former acting prime minister.
„In the messages from the talks, we saw that he, as prime minister of his country, is concerned about an important component of Hungary's energy security - gas. The talks were in this direction&ldash;, added Yanev.
According to him, this fact makes Orban a good prime minister of his country - does everything for the interests of Hungarian citizens.
A week ago, acting Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov warned that Bulgaria could stop the transit of Russian gas to Serbia and Hungary via the “Turkish Stream“.
Payments of transit fees from “Gazprom“ are in question, after the US included “Gazprombank“ in the latest package of new sanctions against Russian financial institutions.
When asked why the Hungarian Prime Minister is visiting at the invitation of President Rumen Radev, and not Prime Minister Stefan Yanev, he reminded that we currently do not have a regular cabinet and in this situation it is normal for Orban to have received an invitation from Radev.
“I do not believe that there was any specific talk about solving any problems, rather about requests for our position“, Yanev also commented.
