The "Road Infrastructure" Agency appeals to drivers who have to travel in the coming days to set off in cars prepared for winter conditions.
During the Christmas holidays, there will be almost widespread, in some places significant precipitation, meteorologists warn. It will snow in the Pre-Balkans and on the high plains, and rain in the rest of the country.
The regional road departments are ready to take the necessary actions to treat the pavements in the high-mountainous regions and passes where there are conditions for slipperiness and icing, especially early in the morning, when temperatures are lower, the road agency reports.
The priority is the motorways, the busiest routes on the first-class and second-class road network and the passes providing connections between Northern and Southern Bulgaria.
Drivers need to drive with increased caution and appropriate speed, keeping a distance, not making sudden maneuvers and overtaking snowplows. Blocking traffic by vehicles that are not prepared for winter conditions makes it difficult for all other drivers to travel and for snowplows to work, the RIA also writes.
