A fire broke out in the area of the Central Station in Sofia in a carriage at around 2:30 a.m. Four people died in the incident.
Two people were injured and they are intoxicated. This was announced at a briefing by the Interior Ministry.
According to initial information, a group of homeless people illegally entered the carriage.
There is currently no violation of the train schedule.
Regarding the New Year's concert in the center of Sofia, the Interior Ministry specified that traffic on Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd. in the section between Rakovski St. and Sq. “Nezavisimost“, as well as on the adjacent streets of “Tsar Osvoboditel“ Blvd. in the restricted area, will be suspended at 6:30 p.m.
Citizens who want to celebrate the New Year on the square will pass through 6 checkpoints, there is a ban on weapons and pyrotechnics. There will be an order to raise drones, there will be an anti-drone device. In the late afternoon of January 2, it will be possible to park on the square again.
140 police officers will be responsible for the order of the New Year's event. There will be additional officers located throughout Sofia.
