About 60 people from Kostinbrod, relatives and friends of a young skier who tragically died a year ago, gathered for a peaceful protest on the "Mechi Chal" ski slope near Chepelare, the Bulgarian National Radio reported.

21-year-old Mario Simeonov died on February 6th of last year, skiing on the "Mechi Chal" ski slope. The tragedy occurred after fourteen descents and a subsequent hit into a tree outside the ski slope.

The pre-trial proceedings have ended with an unknown perpetrator. Today, the protesters raised a poster with Mario's photo and the inscription "Human life is more important and above all. Justice for Mario".

The main organizer of the protest is the sister of the deceased boy, Vivian Petrova. She explained:

"We are organizing this protest because the case ended with an unknown perpetrator, and the track itself is not safe, where my brother rests. Our fight is for the track to be safe, because right at the bend there is neither a safety net, nor pegs, nor anything.

A pretty good skier, we have been skiing since we were six or seven years old. If he skis on “Mechi Chal“ – who is familiar, it is only for advanced skiers."
