Most basic food products, fruits and vegetables are rising in price on the stock exchanges in our country this week, according to data from the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT), BNT reported.
The market price index (MPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in Bulgaria, rose by 1.16 percent to 2,240 points. Before Christmas, the MPI was at a level of 2,214 points. The base level of the MPI - 1,000 points, dates back to 2005.
The price of cow's cheese is 11.54 leva per kilogram, and the price of "Vitosha" type yellow cheese is rising by 0.9 percent to 17.62 leva per kilogram. Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) is up 0.8 percent and is being bought at 1.31 leva for a 400-gram bucket, while fresh milk (3 percent fat content) is up 2.2 percent to 2.46 leva per liter. Cow butter (125-gram package) is up 0.9 percent to 3.06 leva on average per piece.
The price of chicken meat is up 0.4 percent to 6.38 leva per kilogram, while that of eggs (size M) is up 2.9 percent to 0.36 leva per piece wholesale.
Rice is up 3.7 percent and reaches 3.39 leva per kilogram, and ripe beans are up 1.0 percent and are being traded at 4.37 leva per kilogram. Lentils are up by 0.2 percent and are 4.41 leva per kilogram.
The price of oil is up by 4.3 percent to 3.38 leva per liter, and of type 500 flour - by 3.8 percent to 1.44 leva per kilogram. Sugar is up by 6.8 percent and is offered at 2.03 leva per kilogram.
Among fruits, oranges are cheaper - by 8.4 percent to 1.81 leva per kilogram, tangerines - by 4.3 percent to 2.13 leva per kilogram and bananas by 2.8 percent to 2.63 leva per kilogram. Lemons are traded at 2.31 leva per kilogram. Grapefruits are up by 2.2 percent to 2.49 leva per kilogram. The price of apples fell by 7.2 percent to 1.59 leva per kilogram.
Among vegetables, greenhouse tomatoes fell by 2.5 percent to 3.45 leva per kilogram, potatoes by 3.0 percent to 1.20 leva per kilogram. Carrots rose by 6.4 percent to 1.22 leva per kilogram.
The price of greenhouse cucumbers rose by 8.1 percent to 3.42 leva per kilogram. Cabbage fell by 4.6 percent to 1.31 leva per kilogram. Ripe onions fell by 10 percent, reaching 1.05 leva per kilogram. Lettuce is up 2.8 percent to 1.21 leva per head, while ripe garlic is down 3.4 percent to 5.61 leva per kilogram.
