“One of the priorities in our work is to ensure predictability for industrial consumers of electricity in the country. In this regard, the Ministry of Energy has already prepared the necessary package of documents to update the budget of the Program for Compensating the Costs of Non-Household Electricity Customers. The necessary procedure for a decision by the Council of Ministers to update and increase the budget of the Program for Compensating Non-Household Electricity Consumers has been launched, but this will be possible after an extension law on the budget is adopted by the National Assembly“. This was said by Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov during a meeting initiated by employer organizations. It was attended by representatives of the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Industrial Chamber, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria.

They raised the issue of the need to provide financial resources for the payment of compensations for December 2024. The increased consumption and higher than forecast electricity prices for the period July - December 2024 led to the need to update the program's budget again. The funds paid so far for the period July - December 2024 amount to BGN 543,349,135. The expected amount of compensations for December 2024, which the "Electricity System Security" Fund should pay in January 2025, is nearly BGN 186 million. lv.

The meeting also discussed the need to develop a program for the current year 2025. According to Minister Malinov, such a program will be developed and its parameters will be discussed with representatives of employer organizations immediately after the adoption of an extension law on the state budget.
