Vigenin: BSP will do what is necessary for the government to succeed - 1

Our goal is to be able to implement the policies that are important for our voters and for Bulgaria. For this to happen, you cannot stand aside and be angry with the others. Political life was highly hysterical and we made an effort to at least get the parties to start talking to each other. This happened, which is why the negotiations took place in a more normal atmosphere. If we approach responsibly, we will be able to prove ourselves as a party that governs effectively and has brought good things to the people. Our ambition will be for this government to succeed and we will do what is necessary.

This was said in the program "From the Day" on BNT by the deputy chairman of the BSP and the candidate for party leader, Kristian Vigenin, on the occasion of the left entering a governing coalition together with GERB – UDF and "There is such a people", and according to the agreement, the cabinet will be supported by the faction in the MRF, which is close to Ahmed Dogan.

A large part of our basic ideas are part of the agreement, but they must also be written down in a program, so we will monitor this to happen. The program is to be developed in the next 30 days. This is key to our attitude towards this government. We will insist that our policies be written down in the program, Vigenin said.

A rather difficult path has been traveled for us as a party and we will do everything possible for this government to be successful and to be able to realize our priorities. We have been saying for months that for such a government to be successful, it must be based on sufficiently broad support and a program. If it seems that we have given up on an expert government, one of the reasons is that for us the stakes in this government are too high and there must be guarantees that there will be no retreat and that the people who are there will be accountable to the party itself, which will be more difficult if they are experts and not party figures, the socialist pointed out.

We had a very tough discussion before making this decision. We will be very careful about what is coming, he added.

It is important for us that this government is not a government of floating majorities, but that political formations that together have over 120 votes in the National Assembly stand behind it with commitment. When policies are determined, they will have the support of over 120 votes, noted Kristian Vigenin.

Asked whether the leader of "DPS – New Beginning" Delyan Peevski will have influence on the cabinet, he pointed out: "There is a lot of speculation, but the very fact that the agreement includes "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms – DPS" of Ahmed Dogan is convincing enough evidence that the barrier to Peevski is there. We will continue to monitor the policies, of course. We must give GERB a chance to prove that this government will be different from the previous ones".
