Israeli tourists prefer close and friendly destinations, and Bulgaria is exactly that, besides being very beautiful.
This was said in Varna by the Israeli ambassador to Bulgaria, Levi Sfari, after his meeting with the city's mayor, Blagomir Kotsev, BTA specified.
He stressed that Varna as a tourist center is also very attractive for his compatriots. His expectations are that with the signing of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, the number of people from his homeland who vacation in our country will increase, especially considering that five or six airlines operate regular flights between Israel and Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, and in the summer - and to Burgas. The ambassador also commented that there is long-term cooperation and exchange between the two countries, in addition to tourism, in the fields of education, economy, and culture.
Over the past 15 months, the Israeli side has suffered immensely, the diplomat said. He recalled that in October 2023, the Palestinian group “Hamas“ took 250 people hostage and 94 of them are still in captivity. The agreement of recent days is only the first step that allows for the release of these people, the diplomat pointed out.
The Mayor of Varna Blagomir Kotsev added that he and Ambassador Sfari discussed the possibility of more advertising of Varna in Israel. The focus of the talks was also on cultural events in the seaside city, as well as the opportunity for Varna to draw on Israel's experience in the field of water and sanitation infrastructure. This country has particularly great expertise in water management and finding solutions for recycling water resources, which we can benefit from, since we have rich resources and are not particularly frugal and responsible, Kotsev pointed out.
