Stanishev: A government could have been supported, but without BSP entering a coalition - 1

I have concerns from the left's point of view - what leaked to the media does not show upholding the priorities that were set in the campaign. For example, demography - was said by the BSP as priority number one. The entire campaign was about Belene - and we do not see that. BSP slipped into government. Without explaining in the name of what goals and policies it is being done. This increases the risk of paying some price.

This was stated by former Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev in the show "The Day Begins" on BNT, quoted by novini.bg.

When the government is formed, the negative is borne. The upcoming congress should correct the leadership's weakness by stating what it wants to achieve. Specific parameters and requirements for ministers should be set. The congress should deal with meaningful policies, he believes.

My opinion is that a government could have been supported, but without the BSP entering a coalition, Stanishev noted. Since GERB emerged, the BSP has been a main opponent. When you make this turn, you have to explain it. With this coalition, only GERB wins," he added.

In his words, the BSP supports entering the eurozone. "A very serious organization needs to be made. The weakness of the government is that the parties are very different. The second problem - there is no stated major national goal. The eurozone is a goal, but it is a tool to achieve deeper integration into the EU. But it is not as unifying as the EU entry was", Stanishev pointed out.
The third potential weakness is whether the coalition council will work. Whether it will be transparent. I am worried that Mr. Borisov is not part of this council, he is distancing himself, he added.

Stanishev also commented on the upcoming congress to elect a BSP chairman.

"I have served a full and successful term as BSP chairman. It is not my dream to return to the BSP when it is weak. This is a tool for me to hear my concerns. It is important for me that I have the platform. There is no way they will not hear my position and the goals I defend. I am trying to provoke a meaningful discussion about the future of the BSP,", Sergey Stanishev specified.
